About the Hispanic Serving Institutions Scholars Program
HSIs serve Hispanic students by promoting a racially diverse student body, fostering a positive environment on campus, and providing services focused on helping Hispanic students. These institutions also contribute significantly to preparing a diverse workforce.
Students accepted into the program have the opportunity to engage in a virtual leadership and professional development series to enhance critical skills to position them for success beyond graduation.
The HSI Scholars Program will develop a pipeline of diverse researchers and health care professionals by providing HSI undergraduate students with academic and career-enriching resources, including scholarships and mentoring. Scholars participate in an academic year of career mentorship to increase their awareness of their potential impact on the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
